# Authentication

> How to get access to the Aclid Safety GraphQL API.

## Endpoint

The API is a single GraphQL endpoint, `POST /api/graphql`, on your organization's Aclid Safety host. Send operations as JSON with a `query` and optional `variables`. Operations that upload files use the multipart format described in [Uploads and files](/api/uploads).

## Getting access

Access to the API is set up by the Aclid team for each organization. Reach out to your Aclid contact, or email [contact@aclid.bio](mailto:contact@aclid.bio), and they will walk you through how to authenticate your integration and which user it should run as.

Every request runs as one user inside one organization. All queries and mutations are scoped to that organization, and what the user may see and change within it is covered in [Roles and sites](/api/roles-and-sites). A request that is not authenticated, or that is not tied to an organization, is rejected before any field is resolved.

<Note>
  Keep your API access confidential and do not share it between organizations. If you believe it has been exposed, contact the Aclid team.
